I have been working in one lately.
This is the view of the outside of l’ÉFA’s (the French School at Athens) library building:
This is a partial view of the inside of Salle A:
This is a lovely flowering plant that I wish I could identify:
And these are two of the three cats I saw in the garden at lunchtime:
If you can get me a closeup of the leaves and maybe a flower of the pink tree, I can try for an ID.
I’ll see the next time I’m there. I *think* it’s pink magnolia, but I’m not sure.
My guess is the tree is a redbud, like this one
Redbuds were everywhere in Ohio. Such pretty spring trees.
Also, the cats are beautiful. :)
It could be an Eastern Redbud.
If it were a redbud, that’d make it an import, though. And I’m pretty sure I’ve seen similar trees in the all-native-shrub archaeological parks area.
(Which means that it’s probably not a magnolia either, since magnolia is native to Japan.)
I thought for a moment that the top shelves of books in the 2nd photo were loebs….Brain in one mode.
